Foxglove

Most people know that foxglove is used in medicine. But here’s something less well known: foxglove heals plants as well as people. An old name for digitalis is “Doctor Foxglove”, because garden plants near it grow stronger and resist disease. “Apart from keeping plants healthier, they will improve the storage qualities of such things as potatoes, tomatoes, and apples grown near them,”  Old Wives Lore for Gardeners.

A poem can be false but still not falsifiable, can be true but not rational, can be sacred and profane. Language is very powerful and, perhaps, in the beginning and the end, the most powerful of all human instruments.

One enters the image in its first metamorphism being itself somehow a place for the evolutionary, phylogenetic forces of life, and a meeting place for Psyche’s ontological need for a larger self. As I approach the orchestrations of colors in utter harmony, each particular manifestation is a first intake of breath as the image colludes its grand seductions expanding life. As I arch and delve deeper into this life, the images take root in very being. Such are my vehement replies to all disclosures in this body of work conspiring in the irruptions of a lifetime. The wings of moths preach survivals. The always taunting grace of the Great White Egret balancing its gesture suggests mercy is ever-present.
